German Bierocks

My family has been passing down a specific recipe for German Bierocks for at least four generations now. It can be quite the process to make them, but it's worth it. In my opinion, they are the perfect blend of dough, meat, and spices. If you've never tried them before, make sure to!

Recipe
1 small head of chopped cabbage
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1-2 onions
250g ground beef
2 large garlic cloves, finely chopped
strong flavoured cheese
bread dough, bought or home made
small amount of melted butter or egg white
Brown the ground beef in a pan and season with salt and pepper. Add the chopped onions, garlic and cabbage. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes until the cabbage is limp. Add grated cheese to your liking and set aside to cool until just warm. Taste and season again if necessary.

Pre-heat the oven to 170 degrees C.

Separate the dough into 2 pieces and roll out each into a 12inch circle. Then cut each circle into 6 wedges. Using a spoon, put a small amount of the ground beef mixture filling into the centre. Bring the three points of each wedge up to the centre and pinch to seal. Place Bierocks on a lightly greased baking sheet. If liked, brush the tops with melted butter or egg white.

Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve hot.
